Authorised users can also request information they are permitted to access in the selected HR Omni company.

Bring HR Omni into a tool you already use

Model Context Protocol (MCP) provides another interface for authorised users to work with HR Omni information and supported workflows. HR Omni's MCP service currently supports ChatGPT, and its available capabilities may expand over time.

The MCP service is available to HR Omni users at no additional HR Omni charge. Availability within ChatGPT depends on the user's ChatGPT plan, workspace settings, role and supported interface.

Your existing access controls still apply

Connecting ChatGPT does not create new access to HR Omni. Two independent controls are checked before HR Omni returns information or performs an action.

    Authorised user

    The connection starts with the HR Omni account used during OAuth sign-in.

    OAuth scopes

    During connection, the user reviews and approves the MCP scopes requested for that session. These scopes can narrow access but cannot expand the user's HR Omni permissions.

    Company access and RBAC

    HR Omni checks the user's relationship with the selected company and applies that company's role-based access control to every request.

How to connect

ChatGPT's interface, plan requirements and workspace controls can change. Use OpenAI's current instructions to create a custom MCP connection, then enter the HR Omni connection details below.

  1. Open ChatGPT's current custom MCP connection flow using OpenAI's guidance.
  2. Enter the HR Omni MCP server URL and select OAuth authentication.
  3. Continue to HR Omni and sign in with your username and password or a supported SSO option.
  4. Review the requested scopes on the HR Omni consent page and approve only the access you intend to use.

Review or revoke access

Active authorisations appear under Sessions in your HR Omni account settings. Revoking a session signs the user out of MCP. The connection may remain configured in ChatGPT, but the user must authenticate again before it can access HR Omni.

Review before sharing HR information with ChatGPT

HR Omni returns only information allowed by the approved OAuth scopes and the user's existing HR Omni access. Once information is sent to ChatGPT, its handling is governed by the user's OpenAI plan, settings and applicable OpenAI terms. Users should decide whether the connection is appropriate for their organisation and the information involved.
